Off-road adventure and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs

This six-day itinerary combines the classic sights of the south with a true adventure: a desert track used by the Paris–Dakar Rally between Zagora and Merzouga, crossing plateaus, dunes and rocky desert to the remote oasis of Ouzina.

After a night in the Erg Chebbi dunes you return along the Todra Gorge and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, and finish with a guided day of monuments and gardens in Marrakech.

Day-by-day itinerary

1. D1

   Marrakech – Zagora

   Over the Atlas to Ait Benhaddou and Kasbah Taourirt, then down the Draa Valley to a riad in Zagora.

2. D2

   Zagora – Erg Ouzina

   Palm grove of the Draa river and the desert track of the Paris–Dakar Rally across plateaus and dunes. Sunset from a dune.

3. D3

   Ouzina – Merzouga

   Village visit, bakery and tea in a traditional house, Gnawa music in Khamlia, then a camel ride into Erg Chebbi and a night in a Haima tent.

4. D4

   Erg Chebbi – Todra

   Sunrise on the dunes, Rissani souk, and the Todra Gorge. Night in a riad.

5. D5

   Dades – Marrakech

   Valley of Roses and the kasbahs of Itrane and Amridil, then back over the Tizi n’Tichka pass.

6. D6

   Marrakech

   Guided tour of monuments, museums and gardens of Marrakech to end the trip.
