Erg Chegaga is Morocco’s largest and least-visited dune field, about 60 km of off-road piste beyond the last village of M’Hamid. Fewer camps, fewer people and total silence make it the choice for travelers looking for real wilderness.
The route visits Ait Benhaddou, the Ouarzazate film studios, the Draa Valley and the ancient Koranic library of Tamegroute, then crosses the dry lake of Iriqui on the way back.

Marrakech – Zagora
Drive over the Atlas via Ait Benhaddou and the Ouarzazate film studios, then along the Draa Valley to Zagora. Night in a hotel.

Zagora – Erg Chegaga
Visit Tamegroute’s Koranic library, continue to M’Hamid and by 4×4 into the desert. Sunset camel ride to the camp in the dunes for dinner and the night.

Chegaga – Marrakech
Sunrise in the dunes, cross Lake Iriqui and Foum Zguid, then return via Taznakht and Ouarzazate to Marrakech.
