The easiest way into the Atlas Mountains
The Ourika Valley is the closest mountain valley to Marrakech, following a lively river lined with walnut trees, terraced gardens and earthen villages. It’s the perfect day out when you want fresh air and mountain views without a long drive.
On the way you visit a traditional Berber house for mint tea and see how argan oil is made at a women’s cooperative. In Setti Fatma a local guide leads you up to the waterfalls — the first one is an easy walk, the higher falls involve a little scrambling. Enjoy lunch by the river before heading back in the afternoon.
